Newbuilding
In the newbuilding market, China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) are reported to have ordered three plus three 320,000 DWT VLCCs at SWS for a price in the region USD 84‐85 Mill and delivery from end of 2014.
In the products sector, Clients of Metrostar Management have contracted six firm plus four option MR tankers from SPP in Korea for delivery again from end of 2014. These vessels replace a previous order for four 3,600 TEU container vessels originally placed by Metrostar in 2010. Clients of Stena meanwhile are reported to have declared the 7th and 8th options in their series of 50,000 DWT chemical parcel tankers at GSI with a price believed to be in the region of USD 38 Mill per vessel and delivery set for these latest units from the end of 2015. They are understood to still hold an additional two options for further vessels with the yard.
In the container sector, there has been significant activity led by an order for five option five 14,000 TEU vessels from Seaspan Corporation at HHI. Delivery for the firm vessels is planned for within 2015 and all the vessels have a reported price tag in the lower USD 100 Mills. HMD, have signed to build one plus one x gearless 1,000 TEU ships, with the first Vessel set for 1H 2014 delivery for Clients of Nam Sung Shipping. The price is understood to be around USD 17.5 Mill be Vessels, which whilst does set a new lower benchmark, we are led to believe that the ship is for a repeat or an older design to take advantage of the early delivery berth.
Drycargo
“KT VENTURE” (abt 55,868 dwt built 2007 Kawasaki, C4x30.5t) ‐ has reportedly been sold this week by clients of Nagashiki Kisen to unnamed Greek Buyers for a price of US$ 18.5 million.
“YOMA 6” (abt 46,641 dwt built Mitsui SB, 1995 C4x25t) for a price in the region of US$ 7 million to undisclosed Greek interests.
“NORMANNIA” (abt 42,648 dwt built 1997 I.H.I., C4x25t) is also understood to have been sold at a relatively firm US$ 8.9 million to undisclosed Greek interests.
“DAEBO FRONTIER” (abt 48,280 dwt built 1985 NKK, C4x25t) has been committed by clients of Daebo International for a price of US$ 3.5 million to Chinese interests, as well as another 1985 built vessel.
2 x resale “Trader” class handysize bulkers have now been sold by clients of Tsuji Heavy Industries to undisclosed Greek buyers. Otherwise, the Polish Steamship controlled “POMORZE ZACHODNIE” (abt 27,001 dwt built 1985, Gearless) has been sold to undisclosed interests at US$ 1.98 million.
Tanker
'SHOKO MARU' about 30,952 dwt, built MINAMI NIPPON 1998 has been sold to Middle East based Buyers at region usd 8.8 million.
Recycling
The following sale has been reported this week:
Container ‘Courier’ – built 1995 East Germany, 20,336 dwt, 6,791 ldt – sold basis delivery ‘asis’ Mumbai region USD 452.00 per ldt.
Container ‘Saudi Abha’ – built 1983 Sweden, 42,661 dwt, 18,289 ldt – sold basis delivery India region USD 480.00 per ldt, the premium being paid due to the vessel having full spares and about 240 tons bunkers ROB at the time of delivery included in the sale.
PCC ‘Asian Spirit’ – built 1988 Korea, 21,506 dwt, 15,578 ldt – sold basis delivery China region USD 402.00 per ldt including abt 190 tons bunkers Rob at the time of delivery.
Woodchip carrier ‘Larch 1’ – built 1998 Korea, 51,356 dwt, 11,385 ldt – sold basis delivery ‘asis’ Shanghai region USD 390.00 per ldt. The vessel will be towed upriver to the final recycling yard.
Container ‘Indepedence’ – built 1986 Japan, 44,250 dwt, 9,661 ldt – sold basis delivery India region USD 465.00 per ldt.
